The Zuse Institute Berlin (ZIB) is a non-university research institute under public law of the state of Berlin. Research position – PhD Student (f/m)

The position to be filled on 1st August, 2015, will be a fixed-term contract for two years with the option to be extended. 

Research Topic

Visualization techniques shall be developed to display and categorize anatomical shapes, motions of the human leg and resulting dynamic loads in the cartilage of the knee joint.

Based on this, a visual analytics tool shall be developed to uncover relations between anatomy parameters, movement profiles, load distributions and other parameters.

This tool shall be utilized to statistically analyze and interpret data from cohorts of patients with different injuries and diseases.  

Requirements

  • master or diploma in computer science, mathematics or physics
  • profound knowledge of data visualization; good knowledge in statistics
  • experience in object oriented software development, preferably in C++, and in the development of interactive systems
  • interest in visual analytics and its application in medical research
  • willingness to engage in interdisciplinary work
  • very good communication skills in English
